Editorial Team

The editorial team works as a collective.

Olivera Bucalović is currently working on her Master’s degree in Contemporary Art History at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. She holds a BA in South Slavic Studies and English from the University of Toronto. Her academic interests mainly lie in post-Yugoslav art history.

Joëlle Daems is an art historian, researcher, and curator. She obtained a degree in Art History and a Research Master Arts and Culture (both cum laude) from Leiden University. She studied History of Photography as part of an Erasmus+ exchange programme at the University of St Andrews. She currently works as research- and curatorial assistant at FOMU Antwerp.

Noelle Derksen is currently enrolled in the MA Arts & Culture, Contemporary Art History programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is from the United States and previously completed a Bachelor of Arts in Museum Studies and Psychology with a minor in Studio Arts at the University of Pittsburgh. Noelle also works as the Vice Chair for VU Pride. Some of her interests include gender studies, tattooing, and curatorial activism.

Gabriela Encheva has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Architecture and Landscape from the University of Groningen. She is passionate about writing and focuses mostly on modern and contemporary art and architecture.

Rebeka Erdélyi is currently following the MA Contemporary Art programme at the VU. She graduated with a BA in Culture, Criticism and Curation at the University of Arts, London. She has previously worked at an auction house, as well as a contemporary art gallery representing neo-avant-garde, and the young generation of Hungarian artists.

Hannah Geurkink is originally form Montréal but currently living in Amsterdam where she is pursuing her Masters in Comparative Arts & Media Studies. She holds a BA from McGill University with a double major in International Development and World Religions. Some of her passions include travel, photography, and writing.

Helena Grande is a writer, curator and teaching artist. She is the author of Speech Choke. Her writing has appeared in Dostoyevsky Wannabe, Fictional Journal, nY, and diSONARE among others. Helena holds an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School and her work has received support from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst, and The New School.

Sanne Janssen is currently a Design Cultures MA student at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. She recently obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Utrecht University, with a minor in Fashion Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Next to her master’s, she works as an intern as online editor at fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar NL. She has a passion for art, fashion design and fashion journalism.

Martine van Lubeek is a curator, (artistic) researcher, (Deep) listener and programmer. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem. Currently, she works as public program curator at Platform P-OST and researches the hydrocommons of the Rhine river through (Deep) listening, community organising and ethnographic fieldwork.

Patricia Nagtzaam is a designer, graduated from the BSc Communication & Multimedia Design (cum-laude), with a passion for writing, futurology and interactive media. Their work explores new forms of intimacy that go beyond human experience and timescale. Where data of an object is separated from the object itself, and the Self within itself is critically questioned.

Lisa Petersohn is graduated from the Master’s programme  Contemporary Art History at the VU and has a Bachelors degree in art history and English literature from the University of Heidelberg. Her research interests are street art, graffiti and issues surrounding gender in art.

Paula Rodríguez Sardiñas is a student in the MA Contemporary Art at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, a writer and an art historian. Besides her work as editor at Flemish Arts & culture magazine rekto:verso, she is also part of the curatorial programme Curating the Young and a graduate of the MA Art Sciences at the University of Ghent (summa cum laude). Rodríguez Sardiñas’s work has already appeared in GLEAN (formerly known as H ART), rekto:verso and Etcetera.

Esther Scholtes obtained a Research Master Arts and Culture (cum laude) from Leiden University in 2019 with a focus on film, photography and cartography. She currently works as a cataloguer of photographs for the project Prentenkabinet Online at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.

Anastasia Shin graduated from the Master of Fine Arts at the Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam and completed her BA in Art Practice at Goldsmiths, University of London. She works with installation, text and drawing to explore the habits of human behaviour and attention.

Lisa Marie Sneijder is a design researcher, writer and curator and is currently working on her PhD researching design exhibitions that address socio-political issues at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is a graduate from the MA Design Cultures at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and the MA Curating Contemporary Design (in partnership with the Design Museum) at Kingston University London.

Fleur van Suijdam is an art historian, collections manager, and archivist. She holds an MA in Contemporary Art History from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and an MA in Preservation and Presentation of the Moving Image from the University of Amsterdam. Her academic interests lay in politically engaged art, with a specific focus on (neo)colonialism, solidarity, and stateless communities.

Daniela Tenenbaum is a curator, researcher and event moderator based in Amsterdam. Currently, she is Curator and Programme Coordinator at IMPAKT [Centre for Media Culture]. She obtained her master’s degree in Arts and Society from Utrecht University and worked for the Netherlands Film Festival and Research Center For Material Culture, among others.

Manuela Zammit is graduated from the ResMa Critical Studies in Art & Culture at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. She also holds a MFA in Contemporary Curating from Manchester Metropolitan University.
